Miraculous Healing

An Introduction to the Book...
A Course in Miracles says, “All disease is of the mind.” Notice it doesn’t say some disease, it says all disease. This concept may seem foreign to you, especially if you think that modern medicine has the answers. You would think after spending billions of dollars on medical research, they would have discovered a cure for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. But, they still don’t have a clue about how to cure cancer or any other major diseases. I can hear you say, “What about all of the marvelous advances in medicine we are being told about?” They are pure fiction.
If you look deeply into what has actually happened, and not just what the medical community is saying, you will find that the statistics tell a very different story. The survival rate for cancer patients in the last fifty years has changed very little. Five percent is all. Those marvelous advances don’t actually exist. Think about this. Medicine is a trillion dollar business in the United States alone. If they magically came up with a cure for cancer and other major diseases, it would put them out of business. So, what is the incentive to find a cure for cancer and other life-threatening diseases? There aren’t any.
Is there a conspiracy to not find a cure? Frankly, I don’t know. Modern medicine, like any bureaucracy, has developed a collective autocratic ego structure that resists change, at all costs. This is not unusual; all entrenched bureaucratic systems resist new ideas. Change is abhorrent to ego, especially the collective ego; this is not a small matter. Ego’s resistance can be as deadly as any disease. Throughout the book, I will talk a lot about how to cope with ego’s resistance to change.
Over 500,000 people die of cancer every year in the United States alone. Worldwide, millions die every year for the same reason—collective ignorance. The real cause of disease is ignored by medicine. You may be wondering what makes me think I have the answer to curing disease. Well, I do, and it’s right here in this book. The solution is so simple, it boggles the mind. Having said that, there are, of course, obstacles and pitfalls, but once you have the complete picture, you will know how to navigate around them.
I knew intuitively, when I read The Course many years ago, that when it said “All disease is of the mind,” it was true. But, I also realized because of the culture’s belief in medical science, I would have to wait for proof from the scientific community, before people would take what The Course said, seriously. Little did I know at the time, it would take a quarter of a century for biological research to validate what it says. The Course doesn’t say how the mind creates disease or how to cure disease. I was on my own in that regard. Quite by accident, I developed a procedure for engaging the mind’s ability to heal the body. With a little coaching, you can actually heal yourself. In fact, one of the key elements in the new healing paradigm being developed with the body is taking responsibility for your own healing.
Recently, the scientific evidence I was waiting for showed up in the form of a book by Bruce Lipton, entitled, The Biology of Belief. He has a Ph.D. and is a cell biologist. His credentials are impeccable. Most people would probably rather turn their health over to a doctor. But for the thousands of people who die of cancer every year in the United States who did just that, it didn’t turn out very well. They suffered and died in agony, because of the barbaric procedures being used by modern medicine to treat cancer. Radiation and chemotherapy are still the mainstays for treating cancer. You can do your own research on the side effects and effectiveness of radiation and chemotherapy, by looking it up on The Web. You will be stunned by what you find.
Medical treatments kill thousands of people every year. Of course, you never hear about it, because the medical community doesn’t want you to know about them. The statistics around how many people die from cancer treatments are vague, especially around radiation and chemotherapy. Those procedures don’t discriminate; they kill the healthy cells right along with the cancer cells. People don’t always die from chemo and radiation, they die from complications. Chemo and radiation attack the organs of the body and can cause organ failure. So, the medical records show you died of liver or kidney failure.
Modern biology has caught up with A Course in Miracles, yet medicine still clings to its traditional approach to treating disease. How bad is it? Consider this. Almost all drugs treat symptoms only. They don’t do anything about curing the disease. Despite the twentieth century’s far-reaching discoveries about the mind, medicine has been reluctant to apply them to understanding cancer and other diseases. The pharmaceutical companies continue to tout the fabulous benefits of the drugs they produce. They are some of the largest businesses in the world and they are very influential and profitable. The FDA is responsible for approving the drugs that pharmaceutical companies produce, but they have turned a blind eye to the fact that the drugs they approve don’t actually cure disease. The system is corrupt.
The mind is divided into the conscious and unconscious (subconscious) minds. The conscious mind is the one you use to decide where you are going for lunch or to solve your day-to-day problems. It is the thinking mind. It can be monitored and controlled. The unconscious mind is not so easily controlled. It is a major factor in disease. The content of the unconscious mind plays over and over and is largely outside of conscious control. It puts you on auto pilot, for better or for worse. It stores the conditioning, beliefs, and thought forms that create what you experience, including disease. But, the unconscious mind can be accessed and the content changed. It is often dominated by compulsive negative thinking. Thought plays an important part in your body’s chemistry. The role that mind and thought plays has been completely ignored by modern medical science, yet it is one of the major factors in disease. It is part of the disease equation.
A pivotal chapter is dedicated to clearing the unconscious mind of emotional trauma and thought forms. Most people are very reluctant to explore the content of their unconscious mind, but when they are diagnosed with a life-threatening disease like cancer, it then becomes a matter of survival. Obviously, at that point, you are faced with a choice. You can explore the depths of your unconscious mind—or not.
No one escapes some emotional trauma. As a child you didn’t know how to deal with strong emotions, so you ignored and suppressed them. The residue from that trauma is still in your unconscious mind, stored as thought forms and energy patterns. A young child has very slow brainwave activity. They are in Delta and Theta brainwaves until they are about six years old. A child in Delta or Theta brainwaves is unable to discriminate, so whatever they experience, becomes their reality.
Your life is a direct reflection of the content of your unconscious mind and the beliefs contained within it. Beliefs can have positive or negative affects on your body chemistry. Disease is the result of the message being sent to your genes by your unconscious mind. Changing your mind can alter your genes. Contemporary biological research confirms that genes can be reprogrammed, even after they have mutated, and create disease.
Living in the twenty-first century, with all of the technology and modern conveniences, life should be easier. Still, for many, there is a gradual erosion of the quality of their lives. When you become ill, that erosion accelerates. Disease is a psychological event, so whatever has gone wrong in your body begins in your mind. What the mind creates, it can UN-create.
Your doctor will probably try to discourage you from the idea that disease is a product of the mind. The medical community is no closer to curing cancer and other life-threatening diseases than they were fifty years ago. Your doctor either doesn’t know the truth, or he is in denial. To admit to the truth might put him out of business.
You may think you have come to this book by accident or sheer coincidence. Let me suggest it is the unseen hand of the universe, leading you to what you need to know in order to heal.
